Appearance:
Shaggy blonde hair, fair skin, hazel eyes. About five foot ten, muscular build.
History:
Riley was the only child of muggle Gerald McGranahan and witch Corinne McGranahan. He lived in a small cottage in the outskirts of London. When he was 6 years old, his mother was (sadly) murdered by a pureblood fanatic. Ever since, his father's former acceptance of his wife's "kind" turned into hatred and he hoped to keep his son away from all of it. When Riley got his letter from Hogwarts, his father, who had planned on hiding the wizarding world from his son, saw how excited he was to go to school where his mother did and relented. He took Riley to Diagon Alley to get his books and things. When the time came for him to finally leave, however, his fear overcame the wish for his son’s happiness. He told him that he couldn't go to school. Riley fought it, of course. In the heat of the moment, Gerald told Riley that if he were to go to Hogwarts, he could never come back. Riley looked into his father’s eyes one last time and walked through the portal to Platform 9 3/4. When he got to school and made some friends, he was convinced that he made the right choice. Later on, when it was time for the students to leave for the summer, it finally hit Riley that he had no home to go to. After a talk with Professor Sprout, it was determined that Riley would work for housing and food at the Leaky Cauldron. Of course it all turned out alright for him. His father had, obviously, come to his senses and took Riley back with open arms. Things were never quite the same between Riley and his father, but it was better than living without a family. After this year, Riley’s father wants him to take on the family business, though he really wants to be a Healer. Many fights have ensued over this, but he has yet to make his final decision.
Personality:
One word to describe Riley is spontaneous. You can never know what mood he's going to be in. And even if you think you've figured it out, it can change at the drop of a hat. Although, this is only out of the fierce loyalty he has for the ones he loves. He used to pretend not to care, but in reality, he'd always been quick to trust. Mainly because he wanted nothing more than for someone to be there for him. Someone he could love, and not necessarily in a romantic way. Of course, he'd never admit it to himself.
He tends to see love and emotions as weaknesses but he is beginning to open up and trust people, despite the chance of being hurt. He puts others before himself, and this often causes him to fly off the handle at even the slightest insult to one of his friends. Just goes to show that you shouldn't mix an Irish temper with Hufflepuff loyalty
